Val and Austin Asche

     Esther was friends with Austin and Val Asche. One of the things that they shared was an interest in Charles Dickens' literature. The following is a description of who Austin Asche is.
     KJA Asche AC QC, BA, LLM (Melb), FACE, Hon LittD (Deakin), Hon LLD (NT University). Austin Asche practiced as a Barrister from 1951 to 1976, becoming a Queen's Counsel in 1972. From 1976 to 1986 he was a judge of the Family Court of Australia and an Acting Chief Judge from 1985 to 1986. In 1986 he was made a judge of the Supreme Court of Northern Territory and was appointed Chief Justice in 1987. Since 1993 he has been Administrator of the Northern Territory.
